SDT Supports JWI During Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Girls Achieve Grapeness

By SDT Headquarters,

GirlsAchieveGrapeness_webSigma Delta Tau (SDT) chapters across the country will be supporting their philanthropic partner, Jewish Women International (JWI), in raising awareness and funds during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October). SDT chapters are selling Girls Achieve Grapeness! – a custom shade of nail polish created by OPI to support JWI initiatives that help girls and young women build safe and independent futures.

“Sigma Delta Tau’s goal is to empower women. We proudly partner with Jewish Women International annually, raising money and awareness for JWI’s work to end violence against women,” said Debbie Snyder, executive director of Sigma Delta Tau. “Our jointly-funded programs make a difference in women’s lives every day, empowering them to break the cycle of violence.”

Girls who are empowered to realize their full potential grow into strong women – women who are far less likely to become victims of relationship abuse. Women across the country will join together throughout October in this powerful purple campaign to end violence against women. Through the Girls Achieve Grapeness! promotion, Sigma Delta Tau intends to raise $85,000 for the cause.

“What is particularly compelling about the Girls Achieve Grapeness! campaign is that our collegiate women are given an opportunity to market, sell and wear a new nail polish color that was created just for this campaign,” said Snyder. “It’s a visible way to support the effort and talk about the cause. The purple color will raise awareness of domestic violence and the funds will go directly toward the effort to end violence against women.”

Girls Achieve Grapeness! is just $10 per bottle. Reach out to your closest chapter of Sigma Delta Tau, or contact the National Office at nationaloffice@sigmadeltatau.org.

Since 2004, Sigma Delta Tau has worked with JWI, supporting the Mothers’ Day Flower Project and the National Library Initiative. The partnership has continued to flourish, bringing programs such as Life$avings® financial literacy training to campuses, and funding the Safe Smart Dating program with Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. Safe Smart Dating is the first program to engage men and women together to address the issue of violence in dating relationships.
