Academic excellence is one of Sigma Delta Tau’s cornerstones, represented by the diamond in our Torch badge. Our chapters are regularly recognized for exceeding campus, all-Greek and all-women GPAs. In 2017, Sigma Delta Tau launched our Academic Honor Society, the Order of the Lapis, to recognize juniors and seniors who have demonstrated personal excellence in scholarship.
To be eligible for the Order of the Lapis, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a member of SDT for one full semester (not including new member period)
- Juniors must have completed 60 credit hours (with at least 24 at current institution) and have an overall GPA of 3.7 or higher
- Seniors must have completed at least 88 credit hours (with at least 24 at current institution) and have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Must include a current resume, transcript and letter from chapter VP of Academic Development verifying membership in good standing and GPA
Application information and deadlines are shared directly with collegiate members via email and monthly newsletters during the fall semester.
