Sigma Delta Tau’s Philanthropy Team has put together a Prevent Child Abuse America 5K Fundraising Kit for our chapters! 

We invite SDT chapters to explore and partake in this campaign to raise money during Child Abuse Prevention month as part of PCAA’s national action campaign “Growing a Better Tomorrow for All Children, Together.” Understanding that it has been a difficult year for fundraising, the SDT Philanthropy Team wanted to help our chapters feel connected while raising money for one of our philanthropic partners.  

This event is open to all friends and family to help your chapter raise money for PCAA. Everything your chapter needs—from the platform, logistics, PCAA shirts, sample social media schedule and educational posts from PCAA— is below! 

CrowdChange & Campaign Logistics

Fundraising will open on April 1 midnight ET, closing on April 25 at 11:59pm ET. Each chapter has been setup with a team page on CrowdChange, with the information readily available for you to share with your sisters, friends and family to help your chapter fundraise. We ask that participants complete the 5K between April 23 – April 25 through walking, running, biking or cycling.  

Registration is $10, which goes directly towards PCAA. As a bonus, chapters who have 80% of their members raise $25 or more can have this fundraiser count as their PCAA fundraiser for the year in alignment with our Standards for Chapter Achievement. To ensure donations go towards your chapter’s total, be sure to select YOUR CHAPTER’S fundraising page at the bottom of the main SDT CrowdChange page and share your chapter’s specific CrowdChange page with your sisters and chapter participants.

While we are not requiring participants to submit the completion of their 5K, your chapter can select one of the following apps to track how participants on their team are completing their 5K commitment: 

• Apple Watch/Apple Health App 
• Runkeeper 
• Map My Ride 
• Map My Run 

Fundraising Shirts

Now through April 25, when a PCAA 5k T-shirt is purchased through Duo Studio Designs, $5 of the purchase will go directly to Prevent Child Abuse America.

Additionally, when members use the code PCAA5K to purchase other goodies from Duo Studio Designs, you’ll receive a 10% discount off your order and 10% of their total will be donated back to the philanthropy!

Social Media & Supporting Assets

We’ve put together some photos (with credit handles!), graphics, PCAA resource posts (via our PCAA portal) and sample social media schedule for you to peruse, use and gather inspiration from. Your chapter is not required to use these resources, but are certainly welcome to! The sample social media schedule is what the National Instagram account will be following. As this event is being hosted by our SDT chapters, make sure to post and tag @sigmadeltatauhq of your chapter members participating in the 5K April 23-25 so we can feature your chapter on our story!

Educational PCAA Resources

To help you be as successful as possible in raising awareness and engagement, impacting positive change during Child Abuse Prevention Month and promoting Digital Advocacy Day on April 21, PCAA has provided Sigma Delta Tau chapters with talking points, gifs, videos, graphics and more.
