Time to Hit the Road, Again – By Aimee Kohler

By SDT Headquarters,

Did you blink?

Yea, summer is almost over.

With summer ending and the school year starting, I found myself getting ready to start traveling for the year as a Senior Leadership Consultant. And shockingly, I am even more excited to get started now, then I was last year. With a year under my belt and a newfound confidence, I am so optimistic about what this year will bring.

This time last year, I was anxious. I was nervous to be packing my bags and moving away from home. I was nervous about giving advice in areas that I never gave advice in before. I was nervous about meeting new people and building new relationships. Now, I am preparing for my second year because I wasn’t ready to start my next adventure yet. There is still so much to explore in this one. So, I am not nervous anymore, but excited, and here are a couple of the reasons.

The first and most obvious reason is working with young leaders on a daily basis. Last year, I was able to build relationships with inspiring collegiate women who make up our chapters. Not only are we able go into a chapter and help them in areas they may need, but we get to become friends with the women we get to know at a campus. The leaders I have worked with are implementing change in their organizations and inspiring others around them to dive into their fullest potential. This is the most rewarding aspect that we can ask for as Leadership Consultants. I am looking forward to expanding on the connections I have made this past year and building new relationships along the way.

The other reason I’m excited, is that I am looking forward to learning. (Yes, this is my nerdy side.) It is so intriguing to learn from such intelligent women and be able to transfer that into what we teach when we go to a chapter. Learning about individual leadership, and more about how I learn and teach day-to-day, is a rewarding part of what I have experienced this past year and what I hope to gain more of during my second year.

Here I am ready to pack my bags and head off for year two. I’m optimistic and excited for the experiences that I will have, and humbled that I have the opportunity to continue doing what I love. Let the journey…continue.

Time to hit the road, again.
