Sigma Delta Tau

My name is Paige Sioma, Gamma Mu-Northeastern, and it is my honor to announce the establishment of the Sunflower Scholarship in honor of Priscilla Perez Torres Benefitting the Gamma Mu Chapter of Sigma Delta Tau.

Paige Sioma and Priscilla Perez Torez shared a special bond as sisters of the Gamma Mu chapter.

Priscilla was the light of the Gamma Mu chapter. Her constant positivity, love for service, and confidence influenced collegiate and alumnae sisters to always reach for the stars. Many say that Priscilla left a sparkle wherever she went. She was always a voice of wisdom, providing advice for the most difficult of situations.  Priscilla’s passion for sisterhood was truly seen in her decision to take three little sisters, each of which she adored. She also enjoyed community service, participating in Alternative Spring Break in Ecuador with fellow sisters in March of 2015. Though Priscilla is greatly missed every day, her legacy of continuous positivity continues on through our chapter and through this scholarship.

The Gamma Mu chapter will memorialize our recently departed sister, Priscilla Perez Torres, with a scholarship in her name. Priscilla joined the Gamma Mu chapter in spring of 2012 dedicating four years of her college career to Sigma Delta Tau. Priscilla was a biology major looking to pursue a career in Health Services Management. She planned on moving to Texas after graduation to pursue graduate school and her career.

The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation Scholarship Program has made an ongoing positive impact on the opportunities for our sisters and alumnae. For this reason, the Gamma Mu Chapter has partnered with the SDT Foundation to establishment a perpetual fund in Pricilla’s name.

The Sunflower Scholarship in honor of Priscilla Perez Torres Benefitting the Gamma Mu Chapter of Sigma Delta Tau will benefit undergraduate Gamma Mu sisters who demonstrate commitment and excellence to Sigma Delta Tau, the Gamma Mu chapter, the Northeastern community, and the community at large. As we remember Priscilla, we hope this scholarship will keep her memory alive for years to come and benefit sisters who share her same positive attitude.

Though Priscilla’s presence is missed greatly in the Gamma Mu chapter and the Northeastern University community, we believe this scholarship will help continue on her legacy.
