Inspired by Jane Schwartzberg’s fight against Stage 4 breast cancer, Marcy Tolkoff Levy (Alpha Theta, 1979) weaves an inspiring story of perseverance, resilience, and optimism in her book Naked Jane Bares All.

Levy was introduced to the book’s subject, Jane, by her friend and colleague Anita Sands. Hoping to inspire others who were facing serious challenges, as well as motivate Jane during her battle with cancer, Levy spent about six months interviewing Schwartzberg, her family, and her friends. She used these personal accounts to create the core of the final book and integrated the writing contributions from Schwartzberg. Larry David, star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” also penned a testimonial for the book: “Jane Schwartzberg’s attitude toward cancer is better than mine when I have a cold. This book moved me. Aargh!”

The book was released and received overwhelming responses from countless readers who expressed that they were extremely moved and motivated by Jane’s story. Taken from the Naked Jane Bares All synopsis, “The 31-year-old newlywed is diagnosed with cancer. She is “cured” for 10 years—during which she miraculously bears two healthy children—until the doctors and prognoses all prove wrong. Through slice-of-life vignettes, Jane tells her story, revealing the extraordinary individual she is and her message about how to embrace life when you’re down for the count.”

“In some ways, I do wish everyone could experience a taste of terminal, if that’s what it takes to make them appreciate the intangible gifts we receive not just during the holidays, but all year,” says Schwartzberg, co-author with Levy. “But I wish they’d known all along, and I hate the thought of goodness coming at the expense of so much suffering.”

Jane Schwartzberg, 44, is the co-author of the newly released book Naked Jane Bares All, the many-layered story – told with humor and candor — of how she learned to embrace life when she was down for the count. Jane is a financial services executive and former CEO-founder of LockStar Inc, a secure infrastructure software company, and CEO at Syndata Technologies, an information security company.

Naked Jane Bares All was co-written by veteran writer Marcy Tolkoff Levy. Following a year of interviews and many late nights with Jane, her family and friends, Marcy formed the foundation of a colorful, poignant and even humorous collection of vignettes about how Jane continues to get back up when life throws her down.
