Empowered Alumnae: Lynn Schreiber Price, Kappa-University of Illinois

By SDT Headquarters,

Lynn Schreiber Price (Kappa, University of Illinois 1977) is the Founder and President Emeritus of Camp To Belong— an international, non-profit organization dedicated to reuniting brothers and sisters who live in separate foster homes, adoptive homes, and other out of home placements.

At the age of 8, Lynn learned that she had a biological sister living on the other side of town! However, with limited visits throughout their childhood, Lynn and her sister Andi only developed a solid friendship as young adults. As their friendship continues to deepen, they realize how much they love and need each other, while sadly realizing how much they missed growing up apart. With this aching etched in Lynn’s heart, she founded Camp to Belong and works full time in an effort to give brothers and sisters an opportunity to create childhood memories. As a spirited duo, Lynn and Andi encourage brothers and sisters to cherish and support each other, while giving them hope through their journey in the system.

Lynn was recognized with the Points of Life President’s Service Award presented by President Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey’s Use Your Life Award. Lynn also appeared on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and Home For The Holidays on CBS with Celine Dion in 2013. She received the SDT Outstanding Alumna Award in 2000 and is looking forward to accept the University of Illinois Alumni Humanitarian Award in 2014. Lynn also is a professional speaker, author, and Ashoka Fellow (global social entrepreneur).
