Elevate 2022 Recap

By SDT Headquarters,

Elevate 2022 was held Saturday, February 26 with a full day of educational and inspirational sessions for more than 500 chapter members in attendance from 59 chapters nationwide. The day started off with a keynote speaker, Jason Lavasseur, with his “Stepping on to the Stage” segment. He emphasized the importance of being a contributing player in the band and utilizing your instruments to be a rockstar student leader. His multiple serenades throughout the day were a big hit as well!

As the day went on, chapter members chose from a variety of 45-minute educational breakout sessions to attend. The topics included:

  • Authenticity in Action by Dr. Erika Michalski

  • The Evolution of Sisterhood by Dr. Erika Michalski

  • Turn Up Your Volume: Embracing Your Influence by Jason LaVasseur

  • Building the Band: Team Building & Retention by Jason LaVasseur

  • The Power of Communication by Hannah Hall and Alexis Karwoski

After the main educational segments, chapter members participated in inspirational sessions where each chapter presented a program, event or initiative that has positively impacted their chapter and/or community. Chapters were divided into eight different groups to connect personally and professionally to learn, discuss and collaborate together. Throughout the day, the Leadership Consultants took over the national Instagram account to highlight their own takeaways and re-post the takeaways and posts from the chapter members attending.

The day wrapped up with closing remarks from National Vice President, Meredith Mitnick. She encouraged chapter members to continue on their leadership journey by connecting with each other outside of the session through networking platforms. Chapter members were reminded of important SDT deadlines including the Leadership Consultant application and scholarships through the SDT Foundation. There was also a video shown, highlighting the extension efforts at Florida Atlantic University featuring the Extension Director and Past National President, Beth Gruber. After the conclusion of the closing remarks, chapter members had the opportunity to network and connect with the educational speakers via Zoom.

The 2022 Elevate programming could not have been done without the support of the SDT Foundation. The Foundation has continuously poured into our chapter members and organization. We cannot thank the SDT Foundation enough for their impact and dedication to empowerment, growth and connection!
